The Peach Seaslug, also known as Orange Berthella, is a species in the family range of the Pleurobranchidae and thus belongs to the class of the Gastropoda.
Description
Berthellina edwardsii has a oval, evenly orange-red coloured body. Sometimes it occurs in yellow. There are two sensors at the head end. They have an inner housing which is usually disappears in the adult age.
It reaches a maximum size of 10cm.
Habitat and Distribution
The Orange Berthella lives on rocky ground with algae growth, down to a depth of 40m. When diving in the Canaries you can only rarely observe it. In addition, its distribution area spreads across the Cape Verde Islands, Madeira, the Mediterranean Sea and Portugal.
