Pipefish-like fishes are an order of bony fishes, with the individual families showing significant differences. In total, approximately 260 species belong to the Syngnathiformes, which are divided into seven families.
They are distributed worldwide but prefer to live near the coast on the seabed. Seahorses, for example, cling to various plants, while trumpetfish are usually found near caves, rubble, and crevices.
