Description & Characteristics
The Oriental Tongue Sole, Brachirus orientalis, is a relatively small flatfish, reaching a maximum size of 38.0 cm. Like other flatfish, it exhibits a flattened body with both eyes positioned on one side of the head. This adaptation allows them to lie camouflaged on the seabed, with their pigmented side facing upwards.
Habitat and Occurrence
Brachirus orientalis is typically found at depths ranging from 15.0 to 20.0 meters, inhabiting the demersal zone of the marine environment. This species is considered a prevalent presence in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly the western Pacific Ocean.
